Lots of news lately from Aston Martin it seems and today the company has released details of the new V12 Vantage Roadster. No major design changes to the very recognisable ‘Baby Aston’ shape but plenty of tweaks and additions to warrant the relatively high-price tag of this new addition to the line-up.

There is an abundance of carbon fibre to be found on the new model in the form of side strakes, front splitter, rear diffuser, mirror caps and rear lamp infills. Other unique features on the V12 Roadster include newly-designed forged alloy wheels, glass interior switches plus a ‘personalisation’ package which includes carbon fibre bits for the interior.

The V12 is the powerplant that has made the Coupe such a raucous, wild animal so its appearance in the Roadster was inevitable really. There is power aplenty with over 500 bhp and 570 Nm of torque which means that 60 mph comes up in around 4 seconds and top speed is in the order of 190 mph. The added benefit of the Roadster is the fact that you can now wallow in the glorious bark of the V12 without having to go looking for tunnels!

There is also a ‘Sport Mode’ function which gives the driver two options for driving dynamics – Normal and er…Sport. Normal makes the car feel a little more relaxed for town driving while the other option sets the car up for a more race-mode like experience. More torque is delivered earlier on in ‘Sport’ plus the exhaust system bypass valves are kept open longer to make the car even louder – nice!

No official delivery dates have been published for the car yet but we have been informed by a reliable source that the car will be made in limited numbers and possibly only 40 V12 Vantage Roadsters will be available for the UK market. Orders can be placed now, however, and the expected retail price is around £150000.

TheCarSpy.Net are delighted to announce the availability of a few select examples of Aston Martin’s fantastic V8 Vantage with huge savings! Be quick because we expect these to go fast! All are UK cars and main dealer supplied…we are even able to supply a very few limited production N400 examples! The N400 was built to commemorate the company’s racing successes at the famous Nürburgring circuit. The car was also first unveiled at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show. The N400’s 4.3L V8 is tuned to produce 400 bhp, hence its coded name, and the car also features a sports pack which includes lightweight graphite-finished wheels, uprated springs and dampers and a new rear anti-roll bar. The N400 is available in three special paint colours; Storm Black, Lightning Silver and Karussell Orange (aptly named after the Karussell on the ‘ring’). Every N400 also comes with perforated leather trim, including a map of the Nürburgring stitched on the centre armrest, and a numbered plaque…in fact Aston Martin tested the car at the Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit where it was able to complete a lap in under eight minutes. Fortunately the N400 is available in both Coupe and Roadster form, so at least those who like a bit of wind-in-hair action will be able to take up a fantastic opportunity too!

Future Classic!

Penned in the Early 90’s by Ian Callum, the DB7 is widely considered to be one of the most beautiful and charismatic of automotive designs. We’ve mentioned in a previous post the late appreciation of the DB7’s second cousin, the XK8, which now looks like it came from the same womb as a separated twin. It all makes perfect sense of course given that Callum had spent so much time in Ford’s maternity unit. It’s all in the genes as they say. The impressive part though is how Ford managed to fill the shoes of the AM V8 and the XJS with a pair of cars that moved the game on so well for their respective brands.
