Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 Valentino Balboni

The ‘Valentino Balboni’ version of the Gallardo is a limited edition (250 production-run) model built as a tribute to Lamborghini’s beloved test-driver who has achieved a cult-status amongst those who study the history of the marque.

So what makes this particular Gallardo a ‘limited edition’? Well it is a rear-drive only car as opposed to the standard car’s four-wheel-drive arrangement. You see it seems that Balboni had a penchant for doing doughnuts in the staff car park so they built a Gallardo just for him which can go round in circles faster than a spin-dryer. Lairy is the word.

If you are a bit of Balboni yourself and are looking to buy one of the 250 limited edition LP550-2’s made then we have access to one painted in Nero Metallic and another in Verde Metallic. Both are E-Gear variants with Nero Leather/White Stripe interiors. SatNav, Bluetooth, Reversing Camera and Lifting Gear are all part of the cars specification.

If you saw the last Top Gear programme you would have seen Clarkson seemingly wet himself over the Ferrari 458. And rightly so, since it seems that the artigiani at Modena have conjured up another magical number in the 458 which look set to be one of their all-time greats. Recent Ferraris had looked a little confused in their overall design and it almost looked as though the great company had lost its way somewhat. The 458 has put all that right and it is a damn handsome car from any angle.

Even before the BBC show had gone out there was up to a three year waiting list for the car but we can get our hands on a new right hand drive model for the first quarter of 2011 for just a smidgen over list price.

Fancy a 645ci Sport? We’ve just taken in a stunning Titanium Silver example of this long-legged cruiser that has done only 32k miles and has a full BMW service history.

The car has the particularly attractive Chateau Red leather sports interior which makes a pleasant change from some of the gloomy tints of greys and blacks out there.

We’ve spoken at length before about the 6-series and the tremendous value for money these cars now offer. There is something almost Aston Martin-like about the car with its GT styling and laid-back torquey performance. There is plenty of grunt when you need it but you feel more inclined to savour the relaxed nature of the driving position while listening to the rather pleasant V8 soundtrack as background music.
