Finished in Pageant Blue with light tan cloth interior, this lovely original Triumph Dolomite Sprint is fitted with a lively 2.0 litre 16V four cylinder engine plus four speed gearbox with overdrive. New Minilite alloy wheels are available but the originals are currently fitted. With its period radio and Ziebart rustproofing from new this lovely Dolly Sprint has never been restored and is totally original. The car has only covered 38,000 miles in thirty two years!

Finished in Guards Red, this genuine left-hand drive Porsche 911 964 RS is in immaculate condition with matching VIN no.s and only 59,600 kms. Number 1778 off the production line, this particular model was produced for the Japanese market, imported into Tokyo, Japan.

With vehicles subject to strict road worthiness tests every two years, the condition of road going vehicles in Japan is of the highest quality. This particular RS was last subject to the 60pt check at a Porsche specialist in Tokyo (59,273kms) in July of 2008, at a cost of several thousands of pounds to the owner.

With the exception of the Recaro bucket seats, after market front brake rotors and the installation of an electric window for the passenger seat (complete with switch located in the centre console) this particular model maintains its originality throughout, including the 17” Magnesium Cup wheels.

Finished in Tartan red, black interior with overdrive, Kenwood C.D. player, Bluetooth and i-Pod facilities. This stunning MGB had a fully documented restoration in 1998 using a new Heritage body shell. It was purchased two years ago in very smart rust free condition but the paintwork had dulled and some fixtures and fittings had deteriorated.

Over the last two years it has been received a total bare metal respray to a pristine standard, a full interior renewal including new seats, carpets, tonneau, door panels and an expensive Motalita steering wheel. The windscreen, frame, quarter lights, hood and frame, tonneau and every piece of chrome work are all new. The boot has new carpet along with new jack, spanner and hood cover.

This year the rear suspension has been renewed and uprated shock absorbers and brakes fitted all round. Finally, new 15” Minilite wheels and tyres have just been fitted and have not yet covered one hundred miles. A small fortune has been spent to bring this MGB up to its current immaculate condition. This beautiful Hawk AC Ace was built by Adam Cleden over an eighteen month period to an exacting standard and completed in 1998. It runs a 2.5 litre Triumph engine which was fully rebuilt and balanced in 2007 and is fitted with gas flowed, unleaded cylinder head with a Piper camshaft. Twin SU carburettors are used. It has a four speed gearbox with overdrive on third and fourth gears.

The second owner was an equerry to Prince Charles and he maintained the car meticulously which is detailed in the history file. It then passed to a retired investment banker two years ago who continued the care and attention.

It is fitted with full weather gear with a mohair hood, fitted sidescreens and a mohair full tonneau all in dark blue. A rare hard top is included which is painted silver. The interior is created in period with blue leather bucket seats, piped carpet and the correct trim design behind the seats. The instruments and switches are in period.

The car carries a period registration number, three letters, three numbers, and is registered as an historic vehicle and so is exempt from Road Fund Licence.

For customers wishing to import into a European country, the vehicle is registered with the U.K. authorities as being a 1968 motor car and so is over thirty years old. This Hawk Ace was featured in the August 2000 edition of Classic and Sportscar magazine. It is well known to the factory near Tunbridge Wells.

With genuine AC Aces now exceeding £200,000 and rising, an eighteen month waiting time from Hawk Cars and with the quality of the build allied to the provenance, this fine car must represent excellent value at £32995.

Anyone remember when the first European Car of The Year award was held? Well, it was 1964 and it was won by a bloody Rover! Now those who only know Rover from the past decade or so will find that quite astonishing since the latter day image of the company is far less flattering than it probably deserves as a whole. 

You see Rover used to be up there with Jaguar and when the P6 was launched in 1964 it leap-frogged the leaping cat as far as automotive technological developments were concerned.

Rover had a reputation for building decent, solid cars back then and the P5, particularly in V8 mode, was a truly desirable carriage. In fact if you are looking to purchase a decent, restored P5B Coupe you will now need deep pockets. But more of that another time.

The P6 was intoduced to complement the succesful P5 and to see off those lairy Mk2 Jags and its upwardly mobile cousin, the Triumph 2000. From a technology point of view the P6 had them all licked. Bolt-on body panels, all-round disc brakes (inboard at the rear), De Dion rear suspension, and syncromesh on all gears.

The styling represented a move away from the trad British-look of the time with its four-headlamp set-up and ‘eggbox’ grille. There was something Citroen DS-like about the way the roofline tapered towards the rear and some of the subtle design details suggested that Rover’s engineers had been quite infatuated with the French Goddess.

Passenger safety was never a high priority for designers back in the early 60’s but the P6 came along and won all sorts of awards long before Volvo became the Health and Safety kings. The P6 pioneered run-flat tyres for goodness sake!

So there you have it. The Rover P6 was a well-deserved winner of the COTY award in 1964 and that is forever inscribed in automotive history.

So what is the car like today? Well if you opt for the 3.5 litre Buick V8 engined version you get a mighty impressive car that is comfortable to drive and sounds delicious too. The cockpit is surprisingly modern particularly where the instrument dials sit. OK the steering wheel is the size of the London Eye but that is all part of the car’s period charm along with the chunky rotary dials for lighting etc.

The P6 will be remembered fondly by the Police too. In fact if there was a poll for ‘Best Police Car of All Time’ the P6 would romp home. It almost became as iconic as red Routemasters and black Taxi cabs. The goodies in the Rovers chased the baddies in their Jags and Ford Zodiacs. Life was much simpler then. No plain clothes jiggery-pokery, SWAT-teams or helicopters – just screeching tyres, revving engines and nee-naw sirens.

Trying to find nice original one today is not an easy task. The P6 could rot badly eventually and the task of restoring one can be a very expensive one. There is however a thriving owner’s club and spare parts, particularly engine bits, are still obtainable.

And so we need to tell you about a Monza Red 1974 3500 V8 that has done less than 23,000 miles and is currently up for sale. The car is completely original and has never been restored or welded and was once part of a Rover collection.
