Following on from the success of the DBS Carbon Black, introduced in 2009, the 2011 DBS Carbon Edition will be available in two new colours including Flame Orange and Ceramic Grey together with the existing Carbon Black. Each DBS will undergo Aston Martin’s unique paint process receiving seven layers of paint together with a 25 hour hand flat-and-polish finish resulting in a glass veneer normally the reserve of jewellery production. A first for Aston Martin is the option to specify a satin lacquer paint finish, creating a silk-like texture.

The DBS Carbon Edition features 10-spoke gloss black diamond turned wheels with a reversed diamond turned or full gloss black finish as an option. Complementing the wheels, black brake callipers will be delivered as standard with yellow, orange, red or grey as an option.  Harmonising with the exterior finish is a warm black grille, carbon fibre mirror heads, carbon rear lamp in-fills and smoked rear lights creating a DBS specification like never before.

The cosseting and inviting interior of the coupe plays host to the familiar swathes of obsidian black or maranello orange semi-aniline leather. This type of leather is more natural looking and softer to touch. The interior of a DBS Carbon Edition will take in excess of 70 man hours to hand stitch and finish.

On the DBS Carbon Edition coupe, the headlining is quilted in leather providing a luxurious envelope to the cabin. Immediately distinguishing the Carbon Edition from a standard DBS is the carbon fibre facia with a carbon weave that has been positioned exactly to follow the form of the dashboard. Only by hand can the fibres be laid to create a perfectly aligned weave.

The magnesium alloy paddles that control the Touchtronic II automatic gearbox are tipped with carbon fibre bringing the Carbon Edition direct to the fingertips. A unique carbon fibre special edition sill plaque with laser etched metal inlay completes the specification.

The standard DBS has recently been updated to feature the new Aston Martin Garmin satellite navigation system possessing improved graphics and intuition to provide a sleeker user experience. Beam blade windscreen wipers are also a new feature providing reduced wind noise and a cleaner wipe, even at high speeds.

DBS Carbon Edition prices start at £186,582 (€257,912/$287,576) for the coupe and £196,581 (€272,913/$302,576) for the Volante with customer deliveries expected from quarter one 2012.

Vintage fashion has always been one of the vital ingredients that make the annual Goodwood Revival so unique and thoroughly entertaining, and next week’s 2011 event (16-18 September) will be no exception with historic motor racing fans smartly dressed in their 1940s, 1950s and 1960s-inspired finery.

The Goodwood Revival remains the only motor sport event in the world to hold a dedicated Ladies Day (Saturday 17 September), with spot prizes of champagne and flowers being awarded to the best dressed women by an expert panel of fashion judges.  New for 2011 however, ‘best dressed’ men may now also be spotted and potentially rewarded during all three days of the Revival, along with the ladies.

With the support of the authentic vintage fashion experts at Men’s File, Goodwood will be looking out for stylish men and elegant ladies, and giving them the opportunity to win daily prizes of Johnnie Walker whiskey (for the men) and flowers and Veuve Clicquot champagne (for the ladies), as well as the chance to appear on the cat walk around 4pm daily (located on the Richmond Lawn) to show off their stylish outfits to fellow Revival visitors.

To meet the growing interest and demand for vintage fashions and paraphernalia, the popular Revival Market and High Street area has been expanded and extended out across the road from the main Goodwood circuit entrance, near the enormous Revival Car Show, to cater for more specialist exhibitors.

Many leading retail names in vintage fashion will be attending Goodwood this year, including Biba and Vivien of Holloway, with shops on the main Revival High Street, plus lingerie specialist What Katie Did, and Goodwood itself, with a large range of 1948-1966 Revival-era products, including tweed, overalls, caps, leather and gloves.  A new ‘vintage’ line of sub 13-year old children’s clothing will also be launched by Goodwood at the Revival; available in the ‘Shed Shop’ located next to Glam Cabs.

To help female Revival visitors ‘get the look,’ for hair and make-up in a 1940s, 50s and 60s style, Goodwood has produced a trio of short tutorial videos, using specialists and models to show how to achieve that authentic look.  These can be viewed at http://www.goodwood.co.uk/revival/vintage-at-revival/vintage-hair-and-make-up.aspx.

Ford revive a strong presence at Goodwood with the largest-ever vehicle cavalcade at the historic West Sussex circuit, in celebration of Fords UK centenary and signalling the end of the Ford of Britain Centenary Tour.

The Ford of Britain Centenary Parade will be flagged-off by Ford’s chief financial officer, Lewis Booth, with Ford of Britain chairman Joe Greenwell in the lead car.  The parade will consist of over 100 Fords, circling the track from 11:05 on Friday morning, 11:10 on Saturday and 11:25am on Sunday.

The line-up includes the famous Ford Anglia 105E used in the film “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets”; the 1966 Le Mans 24-hour race-winning Ford GT Mk II; the 1970 London to Mexico World Cup rally-winning Ford Escort Mk I; and the 1912 all-Ford-race winner at Brooklands: the 1911 UK-built Ford Model T – “The Golden Ford.”

As well as the Ford of Britain Centenary Parade, the two GT40 course cars will be in action between the races as usual.  There will also be a Ford exhibition in the ‘Earls Court Motorshow’ area showcasing a number of vehicles including a 1960s Ford Corsair, a 1960s replica of Henry Ford’s Quadricycle and a new Ford Focus and Grand C-MAX.

The Ford exhibition area will be decorated with a Ford in Britain 100-year timeline and allow public use of a 1962 Rock-ola Empress Jukebox and the opportunity to have a period-style picture taken alongside a new Ford Focus.

Joe Greenwell, Ford of Britain chairman, said: “Ford is delighted to be at Goodwood Revival in such strength this year.  The Ford Centenary Tour of the UK has been a great success and with an exciting range of Ford vehicles to be showcased at Goodwood, we’re hoping to end our Ford of Britain Centenary celebrations with a bang!”

The Ford Centenary Tour, which got underway in London in August runs until September 18, finishing at the Goodwood Revival in Chichester, West Sussex.
